Beijing has more than one hundred large and medium-sized shopping complexes. Wangfujin Street, Qianmen’s Dashanlan and Xidan Commercial Street are the traditional shopping centres; whereas Guomao Shopping Centre, Oriental Plaza and Zhongguancun Square are newly built ones. These shopping centres will make you take enjoyment in your shopping.

Beijing is on behalf of the finest arts and crafts China , but it is resound home and abroad for four major varieties: cloisonne ware, ivory carving, jade ware, and lacquer ware. Wangfujing Street

Wangfujing, situated north of Chang'an Boulevard East, has been renowned over a century as a well-known shopping street in Beijing. Stores stand cheek by jowl on either side of the street, and the best known of them are Beijing Department Store, Shidu Emporium and New Dong'an Market.

 

Qianmen Street
Qianmen Street, a major business centre for 500 years long, is clustered with old stores. Many stores on the pedestrians only Dashalan Street are at least 100 years old.

 

Xidan Commercial centre

With the newly built Xidan Cultural Plaza on its southern parts, Xidan Street is yet another prosperous shopping zone of Beijing. Besides such "giants" as Huawei Shopping Mall, Xidan Shopping Center, Zhongyou Department Store and Xidan Emporium, there are many specialty stores selling brand-name commodities as well. Because of a series of restaurants and fast food outlets in various manner of cuisine, Xidan is also an epicurean paradise.

Yinjie Street


Quite a few famous brands around the world have earned a niche in the specialty shops that cluster along Yinjie Street, or Silver Street, which refers to a stretch of Dongdan Street.

Jianguomenwai Street

 

It gains firstly reputation as a diplomatic mission zone. Jianguomenwai Street has developed a series of shopping and service facilities known for their clean and graceful environment. The famed Friendship Store, Scitech Shopping Center, Guiyou Tower, Henderson Shopping Center and COFCO Plaza are all in here. The Xiushui Street Bazaar and the Yabaolu Market are favorites with visitors from overseas.

 

If you are looking for export clothing, then you must not miss Xiushui Street and Yaxiu Clothing Wholesale Market. Buying some special local product and souvenir will enhance the joy of traveling . Jingtailan cloisonne, jade, silk embroidery etc are very ancient; and native handicrafts such as clay figurine, Peking opera mask, kites, paper-cuttings etc are inexpensive and make excellent gifts for family and friends.
